We will cycle for a good 30 kilometers in the footsteps of the painter Louis Thevenet, who spent the last years of his life (1916-1930) in Halle, painting the majority of his works here. The starting point is the center of Halle. We then head towards Buizingen and Café Den Herberg, which brews a special geuze for Thevenet's birthday. Continuing our journey to Beersel, where Thevenet married Emma Tevels in 1908, and passing through Drogenbos (near the FeliX Art & Eco Museum) and Coloma Park (with a rose garden) in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, we return towards Halle.
Tip:
While cycling, be sure to visit the FeliX Art & Eco Museum.
Why? Because Louis Thevenet lived in Drogenbos during Felix De Boeck's childhood. He bought Felix his first paint tubes, and started painting with him. This 'Village View' of Felix's beloved Drogenbos adorns the dining room of the farmstead, which you can also visit after the museum's exhibitions.
